Dr. Deborah Gilman

Dr. Gilman approaches each client as an individual with their own talents and one-of-a-kind needs. Her goal is to create a warm, open environment where you feel safe enough to ask questions, explore, and seek answers.
Dr. Gilman has special training and expertise working with children - having been a clinician at some of the nation's top children's hospitals, including Johns Hopkins Medical School/The Kennedy Krieger Institute and Nationwide Children's Hospital.
Dr. Gilman's broad experience has led her down the many inter-related paths that impact growth, development, and functioning across the lifespan, with a focus on child and adolescent experiences.
Her clinical research and practice have included cognitive behavioral therapy, play therapy for coping and adjustment, the treatment of trauma (including divorce trauma), family therapy, parenting and attachment, couples therapy, collaborative divorce and separation.
The world we live in often places extraordinary demands on individuals and families. Psychotherapy can be a wonderful process through which you learn skills and strategies to increase coping and adjustment. Although I have a strong background in cognitive behavioral therapy techniques, I frequently incorporate dialectical behavioral, play therapy, emotion-focused, and solution-focused strategies to help you THINK GOOD & FEEL GOOD!
